Here are the tell-tale signs that you may have a problem with your drains.

Bad smells

Follow your nose! If you experience any bad smells, then this is a pretty definite sign that your drain is blocked or at least needs some attention. You may be able to deal with this yourself using a drain cleaner but if the situation is ongoing then it could indicate a more serious problem.

Drainage slows down

If water isn’t draining so quickly from your baths, toilets and sinks then this could be a sign that there is a problem.

Strange sounds

If you can hear gurgling from your drainage system, it is possible that air is being pushed back up the pipes because they are blocked.

Raised water levels

If the water in the toilet rises when you run your taps of flush the loo the chances are that you have a blockage. You could try using a plunger to dislodge this but if the problem persists then it is time to call out the experts.
